Hi folks,
Tuesday morning we'll be visited by Brian Dennison, an organic grower and friend from upstate NY. We gave him beets, chard, and kohlrabi in spring. He's returning the favor in the form of cabbages and squash. Crop trades are a great wayfor us to add stability to the season, taking a bit of pressure off production. There's lots of times when your out of something but your neighbor's swimming in it. Why not btrade crops? We'd love to do more in the future! Hope to see you in NYC Friday at the potluck!
This week's share:
carrots potatoes garlic collards rutabegas braising mix (spinach, komatsuna, mustard, kale) cabbage (maybe, depends on farmer trade) squash (maybe, depends on farmer trade)
for collards and braising mix: try a little raw vinegar towards the end of cooking. I find this really helps bring out the flavor in the greens.
