Dear Hepworth Farmers,
I've been with you since you joined this CSA and I now can't imagine my life without you! Seriously, I go into a fog of "what do I eat?" "what do I cook" at the end of each CSA season and find myself aimlessly wandering the grocery store shelves with little direction.
Your produce is consistently so fresh, so beautiful, so tasty . . . I don't know how you do it!? Seriously, I'm an amateur gardener and grow a big veggie plot each summer at our vacation home so I do have the slightest inkling of all the work, effort and knowledge that goes into such an undertaking. Some days as I wash my Hepworth radishes or chop some of your fresh cilantro, I imagine the diligent farmers and workers out picking and cutting each crop from the fields. So, what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU for the hard work you put in each morning, noon and night to bring such fresh and healthy food to me and my family!
May this be a fruitful fall!
Wendy and the H. Family
"This is my first time belonging to a CSA, and the ten-year-old in me who wanted to be a farmer has been in heaven for the past few months. I've loved the seasonality and freshness of the produce we've received each week, always looking forward to pick-up on Tuesdays. Supporting local farmers rather than spending all of my money in the overly busy grocery stores has been a revelation. I don't think I'll ever go back to not belonging to a CSA. Thank you so, so much for your labor of love, growing such great fruits and veggies to help feed the country starved city-dwellers. It is appreciated more than you'll ever know."
I am writing to thank Hepworth Farms for all the hard work they do to make sure our Cream of the Crop community has access to bountiful shares of the freshest produce - we enjoy the variety (the more unusual, the better!) and the peace of mind that comes from knowing we are feeding ourselves organic, sustainably raised food free of harmful pesticides and fertilizers. We so appreciate the farmers' efforts to make that happen, for us and for the health of our land. I love to cook from whole food ingredients and enjoy the challenge of finding creative ways to use and preserve seasonal ingredients while they are plentiful.
1. From seven year old Evie (verbatim):
Dear farmers, thanks for producing our crops. We especially like the eggs and mushrooms. They are so gourmet! You work so hard. Thanks very much for being a part of our community. Love Evie
2. Thanks for the delectable items each week, which force us to eat healthy! Such a treat to consume such crispy fresh produce. Thank you for all your significant efforts.
Thank you for organizing the CSA and thank you to the farmers who's work, passion and care provide our family with amazing food. Our health and wellbeing are all the better. Being connected to the source of our food adds a richness to our lives that is invaluable and extremely tasty.
With gratitude and happiness,
Being a member of the Cream of the Crop CSA is a chance to return to the joys of childhood-each Tuesday is like Christmas..what wonders await me? New colors, shapes, textures, aromas of the varied fruits and veggies? And how will I create and combine the bounty into new concoctions so I won't tire of the fare and will be sure not to waste any of my precious gifts. Which of my friends and family can I invite over or make a gift bag of things that will delight them. All of this with a CSA half share!!
Thanks for helping to restore and retain in me the gifts of creativity, giving and wonder, oh, and of course health!
Dear Hepworth Farmers,
This year is the first year we participated in the CSA. Our whole family really enjoyed the process of participating from volunteering at shifts, to picking up the produce, to looking up recipes to cook together and of course eating the meal. Our young girls, ages 8 and 6 have learned to appreciate the idea of farm to table and have started a positive relationship with healthy food habits! Thank you for all that you do! We really are enjoying your efforts in many many ways!
Just wanted to send some words of gratitude from our family.
We feel incredibly blessed to be able to have farm fresh delicious produce brought to this urban jungle that we live in. If not for the CSA it would have been very difficult for our family to eat farm fresh produce as getting out to the farms with two kids on a regular basis is nearly impossible and farmers markets around the city (such as union square / Columbus circle) tend to be quite costly, have a lot less variety, and hard to fit into a weekend with the little ones. I really feel like we are so privileged to be eating such incredible, delicious, and healthy food without leaving the city. It makes David and I so happy to be able to have our children eat up all the fruit and veggies and ask for more as they are so much more delicious than store bought. We are incredibly grateful to the farmers that put so much effort, love and hard work enabling us to eat such nutritious food and we are grateful for your relentless efforts to make it happen.
