Hi folks,
Here's the latest at the farm....
Multiple hard frosts are damaging greens, as expected.
You'll see lots of Kale from here on out, as this green is particularly hardy. We'll do our best to send down more spinach/ chard, braising mix, arugula, komatsuna, mustard....But these items do get some damage from freezing.
We're planting garlic still this week, also finishing our root storage room. Wednesday's the last lamb slaughtering, sorry if you didn't get on the half lamb list (check your Sept. 5th farmer notes), we're sold out. More lamb next year...
The organic pork is back from the butcher, we just have to price it out and send you a list of what we have. Between paying for the organic feed, buying the piglets, and paying for custom (no nitrates) slaughter/butchering, we've easily spent $600 for each pig. We're interested in recovering our costs, especially if we're to do it again next year. So if you're interested in buying, don't be shy about how much and we'll try to fill your order. More on this by next newsletter...
EGG SHARERS: Two more dozens coming, but no eggs this week. Our girls are slowing down with the cold and lack of sunlight. Our flock will be expanding soon, so next year we should offer more consistant supply.
(100 chicks arriving Wednesday).
